New Trick of Terrorists to Frame Innocent People!!  

If you receive a phone call on your Mobile from any person saying that they are checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number, END this call immediately without pressing any numbers.

Friends, there is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your SIM card and make calls at your expense.This information has been confirmed by both Motorola and Nokia. There are over 3 million affected mobile phones.

It all started when I received a call from someone claiming that he was  from  my phone company and he asked me to shutdown my phone for 2 hours for 3g update to  take place. As I was rushing for a meeting, I did not question and shutdown my cell phone.

After 45 minutes I felt very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce  his name. I quickly turned on my cell phone and I received several calls  from  my family members and the others were from the number that had called me  earlier - 3954380.

I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me  whether I am safe. My parents told me that they had received a call from  someone claiming that they had me with them and asking for money to let  me  free. The call was so real and my parents even heard 'my voice' crying  out loud  asking  for help. My parent was at the bank waiting for next call to  proceed for  money transfer. I told my parents that I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report.

Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shut down my  cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up.

They  keep  calling my cell phone until the battery had run down. I myself lodged a  police  report and I was informed by the officer that there were many such scams  reported. MOST of the cases reported that the victim had already  transferred  the money! And it is impossible to get back the money.

Be careful as this kind of scam might happen to any of you!!!  Those guys  are so professional and very convincing during calls. If you are asked to  shut  down your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ASK AROUND!

Your family or friends might receive the same call. Be Safe and Stay Alert!!

Indo-Pak relations

I had a lot of Pakistani friends and my family used to mix with them freely and with all friendship.  I am not able to understand the psychological divide between Indians and Pakistanis, though we harmoniously live with our Muslim friends outside the country. Why this psychological divide at all? I would rather blame the politicians OF BOTH THE COUNTRIES for this divide. A lot of inter action between the people of the countries are most desirable and it is high time that a little more freedom is accorded by both the governments for the people to intermix more freely.

Certain changes in the visa system are also desirable. To achieve co-existence between the countrymen of both Pakistan and India should be foremost in the agenda of both the governments, instead of wasting tons of wealth of both the countries to retain and maintain large armies out of psychological mistrust and fear between each other. Free movement between the people of the two countries will have to be achieved smoothly and if the governments apply their minds this can be made possible.

Let us live with the hope of unity between the two countries not too far. They are our closest neighbour and it is always advantageous to both the countries to co-exist with love without any element of suspicion and mistrust because of any past reasons.

Kidnapping case in Carrefour, Dubai
 
Kidnap Trick - Warning to All Parents!!

Even if you do not have little kids - please pass this one on to
everyone you can think of. You never know whom you
might save by forwarding this e-mail. I wanted to share something that
happened today while shopping at Carrefour:

A mother was leaning over looking for meat and turned around to find
her 4 yr old daughter was missing. I was standing there right beside her
and she was calling her daughter with no luck.

I asked a man who worked at Carrefour to announce it over the
loudspeaker. He immediately walked right past me after I asked and went
to a pole where there was a phone. He made an announcement for all the
doors and gates to be locked - using a store code or something.
So they locked all the doors at once.

This took all of 3 minutes after I asked the guy to do this.
They found the little girl 5 minutes later in the store ' s toilet cubicle - drugged!
Her head was half shaved! and was dressed in her underwear with a bag of clothes,
a razor, and a wig sitting on the floor beside her - most likely to make her
look different!

Whoever this despicable person was took the little girl, brought her
into the bathroom, shaved half her head and undressed her in a matter of less than 10 minutes!!

This makes me shake to no end. Please keep a close eye on your kids
when in big places where it ' s easy for you to get separated like Shopping Malls.
It only took a few minutes to do all of that.

Another 5 minutes and she would have been out the door.
I am still in shock that some sick person could do this - let  alone in a matter of minutes.
The days are over when our little ones could run rampant all over the place and nothing
worse would happen than them annoying some people.

The little girl is fine. Thank God for the workers who didn ' t take any chances.

Scams

When 96 people from China arrived at Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei after paying hundreds of dollars to compete in a music contest offering big cash prizes, they soon discovered they'd been swindled.

A con artist had faked invitations from the city of Taipei, pocketed the contest entry fees and abandoned the "contestants" at the airport when they arrived in mid-February. Some of the musicians were so angry that they refused to return home.

Such scams are expected to increase in Asia,

people like money a lot, so it's easy to get trapped. People also believe in lucky opportunities, especially in difficult times."

Trade-reliant Asian economies are reeling from a global slump. The world is in recession and major companies are cutting production, freezing job recruitment and laying off workers to save money.

Criminologists say con artists often thrive in such desperate economic climates.

Scams which police say are particularly likely to increase include job search deception, fraudulent money lending and getting people to pay hefty fees to obtain bogus lottery winnings or buy into supposedly lucrative business opportunities.

In one type of scam that has recently become popular, swindlers prey on desperate job seekers in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China by posing as recruiters and asking for applicants to invest in the companies they hope to join.

Those firms and the "investment" vanish by the time job seekers call back about their applications.

Another creative scam artist in south China made 800,000 yuan ($117,000) last year by sending mobile phone text messages using a common Chinese name demanding repayment of a debt, local media said. Most of those who fell for the trick owed money to various people and assumed they were being pressed for repayment.

Such scams add misery to those already struggling to make ends meet.

"People will get desperate and morals will decline, you may get a phone call stating that you have won a price or answer any 3 questions and the call you at a seminar to take your gift, well condition is made come along with your wife, I got some phone calls so I blankly say I do not have a wife, they will somehow make you take a policy or holiday home resort, along with cashless medical facility and then vanish in thin air.

The stock market will show sign of recovery and suddenly there will be a big crash, so wait for the big crash but economy wont recover soon it will take about two to three years, some technical analysts on stock are believed to talk of certain scripts to rise, when the economy is down when there is recession how can any script give good returns.

RISING DECEPTION: In India, which anticipates more phone scams and other impersonation frauds this year as the economy sags, "cheating and related offences" have jumped about 10 percent. "Phone scams are expected to continue in these tough economic times and culprits may come up with new methods of scams designed to 'scare' or 'entice' victims into parting with their money," calling you for seminars stating that you have won a price

Economic hardship aside, more sophisticated technology has also helped to fuel the growth in scams, allowing con artists to cast their nets wider and dupe people across borders. "It's easy for anyone to reach anyone," "Before, an aggressor had to meet the victim." As con artists can easily hide, police struggle to crack fraud cases. "Even if you get cheated, complaining to the police is no use. as these fly by night operators shut shop and go missing

Keep it off the floor
No matter where you are in public - at a conference, a coffee shop, or a registration desk - avoid putting your laptop on the floor. If you must put it down, place it between your feet or at least up against your leg, so that you're aware of it.

Get it out of the car
Don't leave your laptop in the car - not on the seat, not in the trunk. Parked cars are a favorite target of laptop thieves; don't help them by leaving your laptop unattended. If you must leave your laptop behind, keep it out of sight.

Treat your laptop like cash
If you had a wad of money sitting out in a public place, would you turn your back on it - even for just a minute? Would you put it in checked luggage? Leave it on the back-seat of your car? Of course not. Keep a careful eye on your laptop just as you would a pile of cash.

Treat your laptop like you want to keep it
Thinking of taking your laptop on the road? It's a great way to work and stay in touch when you're out and about, but you need to take some steps to keep your laptop safe-and in your possession. Here are some things you can do to keep track of your laptop:

· Treat it like cash.
· Get it out of the car...don't ever leave it behind.
· Keep it locked...use a security cable.
· Keep it off the floor...or at least between your feet.
· Keep passwords separate...not near the laptop or case.
· Don't leave it "for just a second"... no matter where you are.
· Pay attention in airports... especially at security.
· Use bells and whistles... if you've got an alarm, turn it on.

Change the combination on opened laptop locks
When people have cables with combination locks for securing their laptops at their workstation, they always remember to turn the tumblers when they secure the laptop. But what happens when they unsecure the laptop? Many people won't turn the tumblers on the opened lock because it is much easier to lock the laptop later if the combination is already set. About half a dozen laptops in some offices were reportedly missing. The laptops were stolen by someone who came by when the laptops were not there and noted the combination. They came back later when the laptops were there and used the combination they had noted earlier.

4 THINGS YOU PROBABLY  NEVER KNEW YOUR MOBILE PHONE COULD  DO
                
There are a  few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a lifesaver or an emergency tool for survival.  Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST                                     Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND                        Have  you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If  you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone  at home on their mobile phone from your cell  phone.  
   Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile  phone  on their end. Your car will unlock.  Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car,  you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!'

THIRD                              Hidden  Battery  Power

Imagine  your mobile battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time.

FOURTH                      How  to disable a STOLEN  mobile  phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #  
   A  15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Check your Tyres

Vehicle tires have a 4-year validity period from their Date of Manufacture (DOM). Thereafter, the tire expires and may burst whilst in use.  How to find out whether your tire has expired? Check for a stamp like this:  (*2603*) There is an asterisk at the beginning and at the end of this serial number.  The first two numbers 2 6 will tell which week of the year has it been manufactured.

NB: One year has 52 weeks. The last two numbers represent the year of make.  Therefore, *2603* shows that the said tire is manufactured in the 26^th week of the year 2003.  *2699* this shows that the tire is made in the 26th week of 1999.

Check all your tires for safety purposes. Do not use expired tires.  They are likely to burst (especially when running in hot weather) because the rubber component may have hardened and cracked.
