‘Khushi – mirror of SC & SGC members’

We are happy to note that some members enquire about the next issue of Khushi. It is your own newsletter to voice your thoughts, concerns and new ideas. With this kind of support, Khushi can very soon have some more interesting pages. To manage costs, we are accepting advertisements and have also created a ‘Khushi Fund’. The ad rate is Rs.500 per strip ad. We are looking forward to the ads. and contribution towards ‘Khushi Fund’ from members and supporters. Kindly contribute generously to bring it out regularly every 6 months. Khushi is well designed and has been appreciated by many NGOs and Trusts, who wish to create a similar newsletter to express their ideas. Isn’t it great to be recognized and lead the pathway! This itself speaks for our unity and dedication.

Khushi is spreading happiness and we want it to be the mouthpiece of SC & SGC. We look forward to the members’ feedback. SMS your views to 9969154602 or email: akn929@yahoo.com or just give it to us in writing. We would love to have them.

’Geet gatha chal’…….. Exercise, laughter & Singing!

The report in Khushi seems to have informed others about the singers -- male and female singers. They have now attracted others, members and non-members to sing old film and devotional songs, and bajans. Let the music and singing spread happiness all around. It is said, singing and laughter enhances your health. Mera yeh geet yaad rakhna, kabhi alvida na kehna………..

# Each one, make one: We have good membership strength. However let us have some more members from the area. Hence each member should introduce one member from the local area for wider representation. This will give us more strength.

# Let us keep the garden clean, green and make it our ‘Vatika’

# Members should come forward to participate more actively and support our cause.

Developing & Maintaining the BMC garden………BMC yet to decide

In the second week of September ’07, the SC &SGC President Mr P B Bhosale and Secretary A K Naik met Mr Vasant Prabhu, who informed about the new guidelines of BMC and about the online application to be forwarded to the BMC through online form.

Apart from this, Mr V. Prabhu added that a four-member committee including the Dy Municipal Commissioner, N ward has been formed. And this committee will have the authority to decide and evaluate the application on the basis of merit. And this special committee will decide as to who should be given the mandate to take over the BMC garden.

On Jan end, after a meeting with the office bearers of Ghatkopar Brahman Samaj and getting their positive response; SC & SGC made a fresh joint application ie. SC & SGC and Ghatkopar Brahman Samaj to BMC as per the new guidelines put up on their website. No decision has been taken as yet. The matter was followed up with Mr. Shirsat, the local Corporator. But no reply is forth coming. Will the local Corporator support SC & SGC or be a mute spectator?

A K Naik, with the help of some influential members sought appointment with Shri Jayant Patil (Guardian Minister of Mumbai) to impress upon him to hasten the decision by BMC in our favour. Unfortunately the meeting was cancelled due to the riots (MNS North Indian issue). Later again, it was postponed due to his other engagements and budget session. We are trying to get a fresh appointment once again. Let us hope for the best

SC & SGC seeks support from all Societies:

SC & SGC seeks strong support from all the surrounding residential societies in the take over bid of the BMC garden at Nathpai Nagar with a firm resolve that this is our garden. Letters were sent to all the surrounding societies to garner support for the just cause. SC & SGC expects many more residents to be members of SC & SGC. The surrounding societies and their residents’ support will help in our effort to take over and maintain the garden professionally.

Demands of SC & SGC: . . . . . . . Will the BMC wake up?

Once again, the same demands from the residents of the area.

Drinking water: Arrangements should be made for proper and clean drinking water.

Toilet Block: The toilet block and urinal are in a very bad shape. It should be repaired.

Children’s Park: This is in a very pathetic state. It should be renovated as soon as possible.

Staff: No adequate professional staff. The watchmen operate as mali too.

Management: The management of the garden should be given to SC & SGC.

Pipes: The large diameter pipes should be removed from the garden. This is not a godown.

No hiring out: As per the new BMC guidelines, gardens and parks are not to be used for programmes or given on hire for public functions. Why is the BMC violating its own guidelines? The garden is systematically being damaged and it has become a nuisance to the residents. They owe the local residents an explanation. Are they waiting for a major agitation to happen.

What the member’s say:

Recently some members objected to the singing by the singing group of senior citizens, in the main pathway leading from the gate to the garden. It led to arguments and bitterness.

We request the members to amicably settle the matter amongst them selves. Let unity and amity continue to make SC & SGC better and stronger.

We would be glad to receive the views of all members on this subject.

SC &SGC – Final reminder for membership fees.

Some members are yet to pay the fees, which is overdue. Kindly pay your fees * Rs 100 for single * Rs 150 for couple and collect your membership card immediately.

Once membership is cancelled, you will have to apply as a new member.
